Historical Significance

Established by a British agriculturist, Sir William Roberts, the Khanewal farm was initially created for cotton production under the British Cotton Growing Association in 1959. After the Land Reform Act, the area was taken back and handed over to the West Pakistan Agricultural Development Corporation in 1976. Later, it was transferred to the Punjab Seed Corporation for further development and seed production.

Foundation Seed Cell

Punjab Seed Corporation recognizing the importance of variety maintenance established the Foundation Seed Cell at Pirowal for research and development of high productivity seed.
